1. Select project type

To create a new screening project, first select the project type: REDD, ARR or IFM. Then click the Next button.

2. Fill out project details

Next, fill out the project details. This is basic information about your project.

The following project details are mandatory for population:

There are also several optional project details that could be populated:

Click the Next button once you’ve finished filling out your project details.

3. Upload or draw your project area

Once these details are populated, the project area needs to be added. You have 2 options.

Uploading your project area

Click the Upload button to add an existing project area in geojson format (note, the CRS must be EPSG: 4326 - WGS 84, and file size <20 MB).

Warning: When uploading geojson files with a large number of features (>50), you will receive the following message:

File contains a large number of features. To continue, the “dissolve geometry” advanced option is recommended. Alternatively, you can split or dissolve geometries yourself into 50 features or less.

To resolve this, click on the down arrow next to “Advanced options” and check the box next to “Dissolve geometries”. This will combine all features into one by merging their shapes (while still retaining individual site boundaries) into a single multi-polyon.

<aside> ⚠️

Warning: When uploading very large geojson files (>512 KB), you will receive the following message:

File size is very  large. This may result in poor performance or failure to load statistics results. Use advanced options to set a coarser precision to reduce the number of coordinates.

To resolve this, click on the down arrow next to “Advanced options” and adjust the coordinate precision (m). Smaller values keep the geometries more detailed at the cost of computation performance, while bigger values make the geometries coarser (i.e., reduce the number of vertices) to improve performance.

Drawing your project area

Click Draw to use your computer mouse to draw an area within the central map panel. Right click to finish drawing your project area. Click Draw Another Feature at the top of the central mapping panel to add additional areas, if necessary. Then click the Create Layer button to save your features.

Currently there isn’t an option to search by place name or coordinates. To make finding your area easier, switch to the satellite view on the right-hand panel.

Upon successful upload or area creation, the central mapping panel will zoom to your project area. Click the Next button to proceed with setting custom project parameters.

4. Customise project parameters

Depending on the project type you selected in Step 1 above, you can now configure a number of parameters, to customise the results to your project area. A brief description of the parameters for configuration under each project type can be found below.

For REDD projects

For ARR projects

For IFM projects

Once you’re happy with your parameters, click “Save”. The tool will start doing eligibility checks and calculating carbon potential instantly.
